Getting started

Install CaptureWizard and take your first capture

From download to your first annotated screenshot in about a minute.

1. Install the extension

While CaptureWizard is in early access it installs as an unpacked extension. It only takes a moment:

  1. Download the latest build from the downloads page and unzip it somewhere you'll remember.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome (or Edge, Brave or Arc).
  3. Turn on Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder.
  5. Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin CaptureWizard so it's always one click away.

2. Take your first capture

  1. Open any normal website (CaptureWizard can't capture Chrome's own pages like chrome:// or the extensions page).
  2. Click the CaptureWizard icon and choose Visible area.
  3. The editor opens with your screenshot. Add an arrow, some text or a blur.
  4. Copy it to your clipboard, download the PNG, or create a share link.

3. Connect your account (optional)

You don't need an account to capture, annotate or save files. Sign in only if you want cloud sync and shareable links across devices.

Click Sign in with Google in the extension popup (or Sign in with email). You'll sign in on the website, and the extension connects itself automatically — no keys to copy. See Account & privacy for how sign-in and your data work.
